Construction Updates

September – December 2017

The third phase of the Kaneohe – Kailua Wastewater Conveyance & Treatment Facilities Project has commenced. This final phase includes the construction of a tunnel influent facility (TIF) at the Kaneohe Wastewater Pre-treatment Facility (KWWPTF).

In September, the contractor will begin building the foundation system for the facility, which will require the intermittent installation of concrete piles through December.

A pile driving hammer will be used to install the piles, and despite utilizing mufflers and plywood pile cushion blocks to reduce the pile driving noise, neighbors can still expect to hear some hammering noise coming from the site during the day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. except on Saturday and Sunday per the Community Noise Permit for the project.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Construction Management Team via the 24-hour project hotline at (808) 445-9079 or email

Mahalo for your patience and understanding.
